Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place submitted through a search tool passes directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results; we do not keep a local log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It stays within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive routine technical details when a page loads:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. They and analytics services help combine traffic patterns, such as popular pages and exit points. Browser controls can block cookies, though some site behavior may then change.
What We Do With This Data
Collected technical data is used only for operating, understanding, and supporting the service:
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not keep, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Boone County material identifies access routes through the sheriff, Circuit Court Clerk, Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch, and Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into reports about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing rules govern information submitted to them. Review the provider's terms before running a query because those practices are beyond our control.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Boone County offices, Kentucky courts, state agencies, legal resources, or search services. Once a visitor follows an outside link, that destination's privacy terms apply. Read them before disclosing personal details.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to track activity across sites for targeted advertising.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be received by:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices protect collected data, but no internet service is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be deleted.
Your Data Rights
The Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs access to nonexempt government records, while KRS 17.150 controls centralized criminal-history dissemination. Those laws do not create a broad private-site data right. Depending on residence and applicable law, a person may still be able to:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
